To file a Chase insurance claim, first figure out which of two separate systems applies to you. Credit card benefits (trip delay, trip cancellation, baggage delay, auto rental collision, purchase protection, extended warranty) go through Chase’s Benefit Administrator at chasecardbenefits.com for personal cards or cardbenefitservices.com for business cards, or by calling the number on the back of your card.1Chase. Chase Purchase Protection: How It Works and What to Know Homeowner’s insurance settlement checks on a Chase-mortgaged property go through a completely different channel: InsuranceClaimCheck.com/chase or 1-866-742-1461.2J.P. Which Chase Claim Are You Filing?
Credit card benefit claims are third-party insurance products that come with the card. You file them with the Benefit Administrator, not with Chase directly, and every benefit has its own notice deadline and documentation list in your card’s Guide to Benefits.
Mortgage insurance claim checks are different. Because Chase holds your mortgage, they’re listed as a payee on any settlement check from your homeowner’s insurer. You can’t cash the check on your own. Chase endorses smaller checks and returns them; for larger claims, they hold the money in escrow and release it in stages as repairs are inspected.3Chase. Insurance Claims
One boundary worth stating up front: if you’re disputing how much your homeowner’s insurance company paid, that dispute is with the insurer, not with Chase. Chase’s role is limited to endorsing the check and managing escrow disbursements.
Filing a Credit Card Benefit Claim
Every benefit has two clocks: a short window to notify the Benefit Administrator, and a longer window to submit the completed claim form and supporting documents. Miss the first and you can lose the claim before you even start.
Trip Delay Reimbursement
If a covered delay lasts more than 12 hours (six hours for Sapphire Reserve), you and immediate family members can be reimbursed up to $500 per person per trip for lodging, meals, toiletries, medication, and similar costs. Notify the Benefit Administrator within 60 days of the delay; they’ll send the claim form and list the documents they need.4Chase. Chase Trip Delay Reimbursement What to Know
Trip Cancellation and Interruption
Sapphire Reserve cardholders can be reimbursed up to $10,000 per person and $20,000 per trip if a covered event forces cancellation or a cut-short trip charged to the card, capped at $40,000 per account per year. Covered reasons include serious illness or injury to you or a traveling companion, severe weather, named storm warnings, jury duty, a change in military orders, your home becoming uninhabitable, and quarantine orders. Up to $250 in ground transportation to a hospital or back to your departure point is also covered.5Chase. Chase Sapphire Reserve Visa Infinite Guide to Benefits
Baggage Delay
When checked baggage is delayed or misdirected more than six hours, Sapphire Reserve reimburses up to $100 per day for up to five days for emergency purchases such as toiletries, clothing, and one charger per electronic device. File a report with the airline first. Then notify the Benefit Administrator within 20 days and submit the completed claim form within 90 days. Keep receipts for anything over $25.5Chase. Auto Rental Collision Damage
Chase Sapphire cardholders have primary auto rental coverage for theft, damage, loss-of-use, administrative fees, and reasonable towing, up to $75,000 on Sapphire Reserve for rentals of 31 consecutive days or less. Primary means it pays before your personal auto policy.5Chase. Chase Sapphire Reserve Visa Infinite Guide to Benefits
Two eligibility rules trip people up. Charge the full rental to your Chase Sapphire card, and decline the rental company’s collision damage waiver at the counter. Accepting their waiver cancels the Chase benefit. You also need to be the primary driver on the rental agreement.6Chase. The Chase Sapphire Auto Rental Coverage Guide
File this claim at eclaimsline.com or by calling 1-888-320-9961 (1-804-673-1691 from outside the U.S.). Report the incident within 100 days. Submit a completed claim form within 120 days of the damage or theft even if you’re still collecting other documents. All final documentation must arrive within 365 days. You’ll need the rental company’s accident report, the initial and final rental agreements (front and back), an itemized repair estimate and bill, photos of the damage if available, a police report if obtainable, and the rental company’s demand letter showing what you owe.7Chase. Purchase Protection
Sapphire, Freedom, and Ink cards cover theft, accidental damage, and involuntary parting with items bought on the card within 120 days of purchase (90 days for New York residents), including items redeemed through Chase’s rewards program and purchases made outside the U.S. Notify the Benefit Administrator within 90 days of the incident and return all requested documentation within 120 days. Per-item limits vary by card, so check your benefits guide.1Chase. Chase Purchase Protection: How It Works and What to Know
Extended Warranty
Chase adds one year to eligible manufacturer warranties of three years or less, capped at $10,000 per item and $50,000 per account. Report product failure within 90 days and submit the completed claim form within 120 days.5Chase. Filing a Mortgage Insurance Claim Check
Start by reporting the claim at InsuranceClaimCheck.com/chase or 1-866-742-1461. From there, the process splits based on the size of the loss.2J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, N.A. Insurance Claim Check Packet
Claims of $40,000 or Less
If you reported the claim online and the total loss is under $40,000, you may be able to use Chase’s mobile deposit tool to deposit funds directly to your Chase checking or savings account. Otherwise, bring the check to a Chase branch or mail it to Chase at P.O. Box 6546, Springfield, OH 45501 (overnight mail to 1 Assurant Way, Springfield, OH 45505). Do not sign the check before mailing. Chase endorses it and sends it back, and then every party listed on the check, including any second mortgage lender, has to sign before you can access the funds.2J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, N.A. If the names on the check match the signers on a Chase deposit account, Chase can deposit the funds directly by completing the “Request to Deposit Funds Into Chase Account” form in the insurance claim packet.2J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, N.A. Insurance Claim Check Packet
Claims Over $40,000
Larger claims move through a staged release. Have every payee on the check endorse it and mail it to Chase, which deposits the funds into an interest-earning escrow account. Once Chase has the check and a signed Repair Affidavit, they issue an initial disbursement for the greater of $40,000, 33% of total claim funds, or the amount exceeding your loan payoff balance.2J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, N.A. Insurance Claim Check Packet
The rest comes in two more releases:
- After 25% completion: submit your insurance adjuster’s report and repair affidavit, then request a free inspection through InsuranceClaimCheck.com/chase or 1-866-742-1461. Once an inspector verifies at least 25% completion and Chase has all required documents, they issue the next partial check.
- Final release: when repairs are nearly finished, request a final free inspection. After the inspector confirms completion, Chase releases the remaining funds.
Both later checks are made payable to all parties on the mortgage. Mold or asbestos claims require an air clearance test report before the final disbursement. Sinkhole claims require an engineer’s report certifying the ground is stable. If your mortgage is 30 or more days past due on the date of loss, call the claims number for special instructions.2J.P. Documentation That Keeps a Claim Moving
The single biggest cause of delay on any Chase claim is missing paperwork. Every day the Benefit Administrator or the mortgage claims team waits on a receipt or a police report is a day the claim sits.
For property damage, photograph everything before any cleanup or temporary repairs. Keep receipts for emergency expenses. If police responded, request the report. For credit card benefit claims, download the statement showing the original charge early; it’s almost always required.
Keep a log of every conversation with Chase, the Benefit Administrator, your insurer, and any contractors, noting the date, the person’s name, and what was said. Email confirmations create a paper trail; if you call, follow up in writing with a summary. This record matters if you later have to dispute a denial.
For mortgage claims over $40,000, ask contractors for itemized repair estimates rather than lump-sum quotes. Chase’s inspectors verify specific progress, and vague documentation slows every disbursement.
If Your Claim Is Denied or Underpaid
Read the denial or payment explanation letter carefully and respond to the specific reason given. Common causes are missing documentation, filing after a deadline, the insurer’s interpretation of a policy exclusion, or undervaluation of the damage.
On credit card benefit claims, the fix is often narrow: send the missing document, clarify a date, or provide evidence that the loss falls within coverage. Call the Benefit Administrator and ask what specifically would resolve the issue.
On homeowner’s claims, remember the boundary. If you think your insurer’s settlement is too low, your recourse is with the insurance company, not with Chase. You can request a re-inspection, submit your own contractor estimates, or hire a public adjuster to negotiate on your behalf. If direct efforts fail, every state has a department of insurance that investigates consumer complaints; you can find your state’s page through the National Association of Insurance Commissioners at content.naic.org/consumer.htm.9NAIC. How to File a Complaint and Research Complaints Against Insurance Carriers State departments can investigate delays, denials, and unsatisfactory settlements, but they don’t provide legal advice or resolve disputes where the only evidence is conflicting accounts.
