How to Cancel Fetch Pet Insurance and Get a Refund

To cancel Fetch Pet Insurance, call the customer service line listed on Fetch’s cancellation page and ask a representative to end your policy. There is no online cancellation, no form, and no mail-in option for most customers. What you get back depends on timing: cancel within the first 30 days with no claims filed and you receive a full refund; cancel later and you get a pro-rata refund on the unused portion of your premium, minus 10%.1Fetch Pet Insurance. Making the Cancellation Call

Fetch’s customer service line is open Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM Eastern Time.1Fetch Pet Insurance. How Do I Cancel My Fetch Pet Insurance Policy? The representative will likely ask why you’re leaving and offer to adjust your plan first. Fetch says openly that they’ll try to keep you as a customer, but they will process the cancellation when you insist.

Massachusetts residents get a second option and can cancel by emailing info@fetchpet.com instead of calling.1Fetch Pet Insurance. How Do I Cancel My Fetch Pet Insurance Policy? Everyone else has to use the phone.

Before you dial, have your policy number in front of you. On the call, ask for the exact effective date of cancellation and request written confirmation by email or letter. That paperwork is what you’ll rely on if a premium gets charged after the fact or a billing question comes up later.

Getting a Full Refund in the First 30 Days

Cancel within 30 days of your policy’s effective date, and provided you have not filed any claims, Fetch refunds your entire premium and treats the policy as though it never existed.3Fetch Pet Insurance. Notice for Washington Residents This is the cleanest exit. Buyer’s remorse, a better quote from another insurer, a change of mind about pet insurance in general — all of it is covered here as long as you act quickly and haven’t submitted a claim.

The claims condition is strict. Once any claim is filed, the full-refund window closes, even if you’re still inside the 30 days.

Refunds After 30 Days

After that first month, Fetch returns the unused portion of your premium on a pro-rata basis, minus a 10% reduction.2Fetch Pet Insurance. Pay for a full year, cancel at the six-month mark, and your refund is based on the remaining six months’ worth of premium, less 10%.

The 10% is the only cancellation-related deduction the policy terms describe. There’s no separate cancellation fee or early-termination penalty on top of it. Fetch sends the refund to whoever paid the premium.3Fetch Pet Insurance. Notice for Washington Residents

Dropping Just the Wellness Add-On

If you added Fetch’s wellness coverage to your accident-and-illness policy and want to remove only the wellness portion, the rules are tighter than a full cancellation. You can drop wellness within the first 30 days of your policy effective date, but only if you haven’t filed a wellness claim. After 30 days, or after you’ve used the wellness benefit even once, the wellness add-on can’t be removed on its own. Your only remaining option is to cancel the entire policy.4Fetch Pet Insurance. What Is the Cancellation Policy for Wellness?

This catches people out. If wellness isn’t paying off the way you expected, decide early. After the first claim or the 30-day mark, wellness is locked in for the rest of the term.

Claims for Vet Visits That Already Happened

Canceling doesn’t erase your ability to file claims for incidents that occurred while the policy was active. Fetch’s terms state that cancellation is “without prejudice to any claim occurring prior to the effective date of cancellation.”2Fetch Pet Insurance. Pet Health Insurance Policy – Terms and Conditions A covered vet visit from last week can still be submitted after your policy ends.

Even so, don’t cancel in the middle of active treatment or before you’ve filed for recent visits. Get those claims in and, ideally, processed before you make the call. Anything after the cancellation date is on you.

If You’re Switching to Another Insurer

Two things happen when you start a policy with a new pet insurer, and both can leave your pet less covered than they were with Fetch.

New policies come with waiting periods. Accident coverage sometimes starts immediately, but illness coverage commonly requires about two weeks, and orthopedic or cruciate ligament conditions often carry the longest waits of any category.5Progressive. Pet Insurance Waiting Periods Nothing new is covered during that window.

The bigger issue is pre-existing conditions. A pre-existing condition is anything that first occurred or showed clinical signs before the new policy’s effective date.6Fetch Pet Insurance. What Are Considered Pre-Existing Conditions and Wellness? The new insurer will review your pet’s records, and conditions Fetch currently pays for could be permanently excluded going forward.5Progressive. Pet Insurance Waiting Periods

For a pet with allergies, diabetes, joint problems, or any other chronic issue Fetch is covering today, switching may mean losing coverage for that specific condition forever. Weigh that against whatever savings or better terms the new policy offers. For a young pet with a clean medical history, the risk is much smaller.

After You Hang Up

Watch your bank or credit card statements for the next billing cycle. An auto-payment that was already queued before cancellation processed can sometimes still hit. Your written confirmation is what you’ll use to dispute it fast if that happens.

If you’re moving to a new provider, time the new policy’s effective date to overlap with or start the day after your Fetch cancellation. A gap turns any new condition into a pre-existing one under the next policy. A few uncovered days is enough to matter if something goes wrong at the vet during that window.
