How to Get a Refund on Ticketmaster Ticket Insurance

There are two ways to get money back on a Ticketmaster ticket insurance policy, and which one applies depends on what went wrong. If the event itself was cancelled or rescheduled to a date you can’t make, you can cancel the plan with Allianz Global Assistance and get the premium refunded in full.1Ticketmaster. Event Ticket Insurance – We’ve Got You Covered If something on your end kept you from attending — illness, a traffic accident, jury duty — you file a claim with Allianz to recover the ticket cost, up to 100% of the price including taxes, fees, and delivery charges.2Ticketmaster. What is Allianz Ticket Protection? Both routes go through Allianz, not Ticketmaster.

Getting the Premium Refunded

The premium is the roughly 10% you paid on top of the ticket price when you added protection at checkout. You can get that money back in two situations.

The Event Was Cancelled

When a venue or promoter cancels outright and offers no reschedule or refund, the insurance covers your non-refundable ticket cost as a claim.3Ticketmaster. Certificate of Insurance Separately, you can cancel the insurance plan itself for a full refund of the premium you paid.1Ticketmaster. Event Ticket Insurance – We’ve Got You Covered

The Event Was Rescheduled

If the new date works for you, keep the plan and update it to cover the rescheduled date. You have up to 770 days from the original purchase to make that update. If the new date doesn’t work, cancel the plan for a full premium refund by calling Allianz at (800) 424-2296.1Ticketmaster. Event Ticket Insurance – We’ve Got You Covered

Outside those two situations, the premium generally isn’t refundable on its own. Changing your mind about the ticket doesn’t unwind the insurance purchase.

Filing a Claim for the Ticket Cost

If you’re the reason you can’t attend and the reason is covered, you file a claim to get the ticket price reimbursed. Covered reasons include illness or injury, traffic accidents, jury duty, and other qualifying situations beyond your control.2Ticketmaster. What is Allianz Ticket Protection? The payout is capped at the limit shown on your letter of confirmation and covers the non-refundable portion of the ticket cost minus any refunds you’ve already received.3Ticketmaster. The Deadlines That Sink Most Claims

Notify Allianz within 72 hours of the covered event occurring. That clock starts when you got sick, received the jury summons, had the accident — not at the show’s start time. From the date of loss, you then have 90 days to submit all required documentation and proof.3Ticketmaster. Certificate of Insurance Miss either window and the insurer can deny the claim regardless of how legitimate the reason was.

Where to File

File online through the Allianz Ticket Protection portal or call (800) 424-3396. Have your policy number or order confirmation ready. On the form, describe the covered reason specifically. “I was diagnosed with the flu on [date] and my doctor advised against attending” moves faster than “I was sick.” You can track status in the portal’s “Manage a Claim” section.4Allianz Ticket Protection. Allianz Ticket Protection – Live Nation Processing takes anywhere from a few days to several weeks. If Allianz asks for more information, respond quickly.

Documentation You’ll Need

Gather three things before you start the form.

Proof you bought the tickets. Your Ticketmaster confirmation email showing the event name, date, ticket price, and insurance details, or the order pulled from your account history. A bank or credit card statement showing the transaction works as backup.

Proof you bought the insurance. The insurance certificate that was emailed at checkout, which lists your covered reasons and exclusions. If you can’t find it, contact Allianz customer service for a replacement, and read it before filing so you know whether your situation qualifies.

Proof of the covered reason. What this looks like depends on the reason:

  • Medical: a doctor’s note or hospital discharge summary dated before the event, specifying the condition that prevented attendance.
  • Traffic accident: a police report or insurance claim documentation.
  • Jury duty: a copy of the summons showing the date conflicted with the event.
  • Travel disruption: airline cancellation notices or public transportation service interruption records.

Every document should be dated and clearly tied to the event date. Undated letters or generic notes that don’t reference the specific time period give the insurer grounds to push back.

Reasons That Don’t Qualify

Changing your mind, having a scheduling conflict, or deciding the seats aren’t worth it won’t get you a refund. Work conflicts are excluded in most standard plans.

Pre-existing medical conditions are generally excluded, with one narrow exception: if you purchased the insurance within 14 calendar days of buying the ticket, claims tied to pre-existing conditions may be covered.3Ticketmaster. Certificate of Insurance Buying insurance at checkout normally satisfies that window automatically, but it matters if you added protection later or bought the ticket far in advance for someone with an ongoing condition.

Pandemic-related claims sit in a gray area. Many policies exclude losses caused by pandemics or epidemics, though some plans cover specific diseases or offer add-on endorsements. Check your certificate.

One more limit worth flagging: if you transferred your tickets to someone else through Ticketmaster’s transfer feature, the insurance generally doesn’t follow the ticket to the new holder.5Ticketmaster. Ticket Transfer Recipient Policy The recipient can’t file on your policy, and you can’t claim for a ticket you no longer hold.

What to Do If Allianz Denies You

Read the denial letter closely. It states the specific reason. Sometimes the fix is small — a missing document, an illegible date — and resubmitting through the appeal process resolves it. Allianz accepts appeals through its portal or in writing.

If the appeal fails and you believe the denial violates the policy terms, escalate. Every state has an insurance department that handles consumer complaints, and filing one triggers a regulatory review of whether the insurer followed the law. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners keeps a directory of state departments.6NAIC. Insurance Departments – NAIC For lower-value disputes, small claims court is an option; filing fees vary by jurisdiction but are generally modest. Keep every email, letter, and form you’ve exchanged with Allianz. That paper trail is what any reviewer or judge will rely on.
