Warby Parker accepts nine vision insurance plans in-network: UnitedHealthcare, Spectera, Community Eye Care, DavisVision, SuperiorVision, MetLife Vision, FEP Vision, CareFirst, and Guardian Vision.1Warby Parker. About Vision Insurance If your plan is administered by one of those carriers, coverage is applied automatically at checkout with no claim forms to file. Any other vision plan, including VSP, still works at Warby Parker through out-of-network reimbursement: you pay upfront and file a claim for whatever your policy allows.
The In-Network Plans and How Checkout Works
Warby Parker’s current in-network partners are:
- UnitedHealthcare
- Spectera
- Community Eye Care
- DavisVision
- SuperiorVision
- MetLife Vision
- FEP Vision (Federal Employee Program)
- CareFirst
- Guardian Vision
Enter your insurance details at checkout, online or in-store, and Warby Parker verifies your benefits and applies the coverage. You pay any copay or remaining balance, and there’s no reimbursement paperwork afterward.1Warby Parker. About Vision Insurance
What your plan actually pays depends on your specific policy. Most vision plans include a frame allowance, lens coverage, and sometimes a copay, and most reset every 12 or 24 months. If you’ve already used your allowance during the current cycle, a new purchase can be denied or only partly covered. One other limit worth knowing: insurance benefits can’t be combined with Warby Parker promo codes or discounts, so if you have a promo, compare the two and use whichever saves you more.1Warby Parker. About Vision Insurance
VSP at Warby Parker
VSP is the largest vision insurer in the country, with roughly 71% of the market, and it is not in Warby Parker’s in-network list.2Mark Farrah Associates. Highly-Concentrated Vision Insurance Market Increasing VSP members can still shop there using out-of-network benefits. On average, VSP reimburses about $100 on prescription glasses and $40 on eye exams bought out-of-network, though the exact figure varies by state and plan.3Warby Parker. We’ve Got Your Eyes Covered
You can file with VSP two ways. Online, log in to your vsp.com account, open “View Your Benefits,” choose “Submit a Claim,” fill out the fields, and upload your Warby Parker receipt. By mail, print the claim form from VSP’s website, attach the receipt, and send it to VSP’s claims address in Cincinnati, Ohio. Reimbursement usually arrives in two to three weeks.3Warby Parker. We’ve Got Your Eyes Covered
One quirk: Warby Parker’s receipts for single-vision glasses with polycarbonate lenses don’t itemize frame and lens costs separately, because the pair is sold as a package. VSP generally accepts this. If your claim is questioned, ask Warby Parker for a detailed breakdown.
Any Other Out-of-Network Plan
If your vision plan isn’t in-network and isn’t VSP, the same pay-and-reimburse process applies. You pay full retail at checkout and then submit a claim to your carrier.4Warby Parker. How to Get Reimbursed With Your Vision Plan Out-of-network reimbursement is usually lower than in-network coverage, and many plans cap the payout regardless of what you actually spent.
You’ll generally need two documents: a completed claim form from your carrier’s website and an itemized receipt from Warby Parker. Download the receipt from your account or request one from Warby Parker support. Follow your carrier’s submission instructions; some accept online uploads while others require mail.4Warby Parker. How to Get Reimbursed With Your Vision Plan
Watch the deadline. Many vision plans require claims within one year of the date of service, and late claims are typically denied outright. Some carriers set shorter windows, so check your plan documents. Processing generally runs two to three weeks after the claim is received.
Contact Lenses and Eye Exams
Vision benefits work the same way for contacts as they do for glasses at Warby Parker. In-network plans apply automatically; other plans reimburse after purchase. Most policies give you either a frame allowance or a contact lens allowance each year, not both, so you typically choose one. If you order a year’s supply of contacts, Warby Parker adds a $50 credit toward a new pair of prescription glasses, which softens the cost of buying both.1Warby Parker. About Vision Insurance
Warby Parker also offers comprehensive eye exams at many of its retail locations. Without insurance, a glasses exam runs about $110, and a combined glasses-and-contacts exam is $140 to $200 depending on the store, with payment due at the visit.5Warby Parker. Book an Eye Exam Most plans cover one comprehensive exam per year, often with a small copay. In-network exam benefits apply at checkout; out-of-network plans reimburse through the same claim process used for glasses.
FSA and HSA Funds
Warby Parker accepts both Flexible Spending Account and Health Savings Account funds for prescription eyewear, contact lenses, and eye exams.6Warby Parker. Can I Use My FSA or HSA for Glasses This is the fallback when your vision benefit is already used for the year or when the allowance won’t cover the full cost.
Eligible items include prescription glasses, prescription sunglasses, reading glasses, progressives, contacts, eye exams, and accessories such as cleaning supplies and repair kits. Non-prescription items like plano sunglasses or blue-light glasses without a prescription aren’t eligible.6Warby Parker. Can I Use My FSA or HSA for Glasses
If your FSA or HSA came with a debit card, use it at checkout like any other card. Without one, pay out of pocket and submit the receipt to your account administrator for reimbursement. FSA and HSA funds don’t cap you at one pair per year the way vision insurance often does, so backup pairs or prescription sunglasses are fair game.6Warby Parker. Can I Use My FSA or HSA for Glasses Check with your administrator first, since some items may need a letter of medical necessity.
Check Your Benefits Before You Order
Warby Parker has an instant benefit-check tool on its website. Enter your insurance details and it shows whether your plan is in-network and what coverage applies to frames, contacts, or exams.1Warby Parker. About Vision Insurance The tool is a solid first step, but it doesn’t reflect claims you’ve already made during the benefit period, so it can overstate what’s left.
Before you place an order, confirm three things with your carrier: how much of your allowance is left for the year, whether your benefit covers frames, contacts, or both, and when the benefit period resets. Plans typically renew on a 12- or 24-month cycle, and buying a few weeks before a reset can mean paying out of pocket for something that would otherwise be covered. A five-minute call to the number on your insurance card usually settles all three.
